About

I am a joint-PhD student funded by the Monash-Warwick Alliance, affiliated with the School of Physics and Astronomy at Monash University in Australia and with the Elementary Particle Physics (EPP) group within the department of Physics at the University of Warwick in the United Kingdom.

My PhD focuses on measuring the contribution of double-parton scattering (DPS) to the production of hadrons containing more than one heavy quark with the LHCb detector. I am also involved in R&D for the novel particle identification detector TORCH for the LHCb upgrade 2.

In 2022, the Australian-based non-for-profit organisation QueersInScience (QIS), received funding to study the history of queer people's contributions to Science Technology Engineering Mathematics and Medicine (STEMM) from the Theo Murphy Initiative (Australia), which is administered by the Australian Academy of Science. I am also a research associate on this project, which is being conducted with the assistance of the Australian Queer Archive (AQuA).

I completed my BA in 2020 and my BSc (Honours) in 2021 at Monash University.  I specialised in Ancient Near Eastern cultures, supernatural, queer and women's literature in my BA and in my BSc I specialised in light hadron production at the LHCb experiment.

Note: some older publications use my former name Michael Walton.
